The USS White Sands held its regular meeting today. Communications reported a need for newsletter contributions from all departments. Engineering, Conn, Tactical, and Counseling reported no new developments. Medical remains vacant this month. Any crew members interested in serving as our Medical Officer should contact the Commanding or Executive Officer. Ops directed any questions regarding their report to be addressed directly to them. Sciences indicated plans for a future event with Watermelon Ranch.
Our Toys for Tots campaign concluded with a resounding success! 199 toys were collected. For next year, we will begin planning earlier and incorporate more than one in-person collection weekend, utilizing at least two physical locations. Regarding Albuquerque Comic Con (ACC), we discussed attending in light of the recent drop-out of headliner Kevin Spacey. Due to the short timeframe, we decided to maintain our current position of not having an official presence at the event.
Updates to our ship’s identifying information, including the Handbook, Bylaws, Mission Statement, and Logo, are underway. All hands are encouraged to submit preliminary ideas by our next meeting on Stardate 20250208 (Feb. 8).
The Cherry Hills Library Star Trek Week (March 1st-8th) is fast approaching! Mark your calendars: March 2nd at 1430 hours for the USS White Sands event, March 5th at 1100 for the Star Trek Escape Room, and March 8th at 1430 hours for author and franchise writer Melinda Snodgrass. Registration is required through the Cherry Hills Library events page.
New business included successful votes of confidence for both the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer. Discussion ensued regarding our Facebook presence. A new, ship-specific page is being created for paid SFI members, focusing on our activities and information. The current page will transition to a “Fun Page.” Crew members are asked to watch for the new page’s launch. The possibility of creating a separate business page for members to advertise their businesses was also raised, and interest was solicited. A reminder was issued regarding membership updates and renewals. A CPR certification renewal class is tentatively planned for June or July.
Meeting adjourned at 1410 hours.
